The reasons for depression

Depression is a chronic mental illness. A person suffering from depression feels sadness, useless, loneliness and other negative feelings. Depression is quite undesirable because it may lead to negative thoughts about suicide, losing interest to different activities and for life generally, and as a result the quality of human life gets lower. Depression basically is an ongoing suffering which should be helped out. If somebody is upset, one can do some things, like doing some sport, visiting friends, etc. and become happy again, but it is not that simple if the person suffers from depression.

Depression not only can last for many days, but it can get worse and worse. It is important to elicit this condition right away and start relevant treatment of depression, and even better if you actually do all you can to prevent the occurrence of this condition.

To be able to prevent occurrence of depression, you should find out the possible reasons for why depression occurs. There are several factors known that may be the reasons for the occurrence of depression:

  • Substance abuse
  • Major events
  • Certain medications
  • Genetics
  • Physical, emotional or sexual abuse
  • Serious illnesses
  • Other personal problems
  • Conflict
  • Death or a loss

If you lead healthy life, like do some sport and eat healthy foods regularly, you will have a good chance to overcome this mental disorder. Also, it is recommended to avoid stressful situations. Being a usual element of life, excessive stress may lead to depression. It is helpful to be especially careful if you have genetic disposition to mental illnesses.  

As it is clear from the list, it is good to always keep some sort of balance in everything you do because any abuse increases chances to suffer from depression in the future. You had better to be able to relax regularly.
